Bassface

Rockwell // Submarine // Submorphics // Atlas

Bassface returns to Simplon after digging itself out from under the snow of the January edition. Underneath the snow, however, they found a lineup that we are all already looking forward to. The entire drum & bass spectrum will be represented with Rockwell, Submarine, and Submorphics.

Ever since we first came to Simplon (and that was almost 15 years ago now...), Rockwell has been known for his unique style of productions, which has evolved over that long period of time and still surprises us with every new release. By starting his own label, Obsolete Medium, he has managed to broaden his unique style and give new talents a place to do something new.

Berlin-based producer Submarine is one of the few artists who consistently manages to create something special within the deeper, minimal drum & bass genre. New rhythms, percussion, and basslines ensure that his music always feels innovative and fresh. This has not gone unnoticed by the big names, as Submarine is now part of one of the biggest labels in our scene: Alix Perez's 1985 Music.

Within soulful liquid drum & bass, there are few artists who do what Submorphics has been doing for years: telling stories in extensive drum & bass projects on the biggest labels. Shogun, Hospital, Metalheadz, V Recordings, and The North Quarter are just a small selection of the labels on which this king of liquid drum & bass music has released his work.

Atlas is the new alias of a Groningen native who has been part of our local scene for years and has also made a name for himself internationally. With his new alias, he explores jungle, breakbeats, dreamy pads, and deep basslines at all kinds of tempos. Old school but modern, something we at Bassface are big fans of!
