World News
London-based indierock band
With an eclectic mix of influences from the '70s and '80s, ranging from post-punk and indie rock to shoegaze, World News combines addictive atmospheric guitar riffs with seductive, laid-back melodies.
Their atmospheric, powerful, and nostalgic sound evokes associations with iconic British bands such as The Smiths, The Clash, and Dire Straits. They wear the past on their sleeves, but at the same time remain completely original and yet strangely familiar.
In 2024, the band continued its upward trajectory with the release of two notable EPs, Escape and Mindsnap, their US debut at the New Colossus Festival in New York City, and mentions in Stereogum's 40 Best New Artists of 2024 and The Fader's 13 Artists to Watch for 2025. Contributions to 2025 include the singles “Don't Want to Know” and “Everything Is Coming Up Roses,” which set the tone for their 2026 debut LP, alongside a series of summer festival appearances and sold-out shows in the UK.
