This year, King's Night marks a special moment: VISION returns to its roots, Simplon — the place where it all began with Machtig: Koninginnenacht. Something that later became Noisia Invites in De Oosterpoort. With Mefjus, Thys, nitepunk, Neonlight and Daddy Long Dick, we are bringing together a selection of distinctive artists who are each pushing bass music forward in their own way.
Mefjus (AT)
Mefjus last performed at 050 in 2018(!). An artist known for his technical finesse and uncompromising impact. His sound is tight, layered and designed for maximum pressure on the system — intense, precise and always progressive.
Thys (NL)
Local hero Thys knows the Groningen soil (or clay) like no other. As co-founder of Noisia, he was at the forefront of what has been built here. His solo sets move effortlessly between experimentation and pure club energy, with a keen sense of tension and detail.
nitepunk (GE / UK)
nitepunk adds a hybrid and unpredictable energy to the line-up. His sound combines bass, breaks, punk and electronica into a style that is both innovative and direct. He has blown the roof off Simplon before and is sure to do so again.
Neonlight (DE)
After a solid dose of Neonlight, you're guaranteed to start King's Day feeling hungover. This duo, hailing from Germany, represents the dark, uncompromising side of drum & bass. With their characteristic precision and powerful productions, they deliver sets that are intense, technical and effective.
Daddy Long Dick (NL)
Contrary to what the name suggests, there is a young lady behind this act. She represents the local energy of Groningen with bass-driven, rhythmically sharp sets that combine genres such as grime and dubstep. As resident DJ at OOST, she has already made quite a name for herself. Now she has also made a name for herself at VISION!
