Sondre Lerche

Catchy experimental pop

Think of Sondre Lerche, and you think of a warm voice, a talent for heartfelt lyrics and catchy melodies, with a surprisingly experimental edge. Lerche has always been a romantic. Whether it’s the songs he wrote as a teenager for his acclaimed 2001 debut album, Faces Down, or his role as the lovesick Christian in the Norwegian stage production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

Yes, Lerche has been around for a while. His career has been going strong for over twenty years. As a teenager, he released his debut album, *Faces Down*, and has continued to go from strength to strength with a string of successful albums. But that’s not all: as well as being a singer and songwriter, Lerche is also a film composer and an actor. So he’s certainly not one to sit still.

By 2026, however, his love for, well, love itself is imbued with a certain sense of rebellion. On his eleventh studio album, Acrobats, Lerche oscillates between joy and introspection, loss and love. The album was recorded in nine different studios with a whole host of creative collaborators and forms a perhaps somewhat more down-to-earth follow-up to 2022’s Avatars of Love — though it is no less brimming with passion. And he’s bringing all of that to his show at Simplon!
