VISION
Thys // Samurai Breaks // Ivy Lab // Paige Julia // Boeing 747
On 13 June, VISION is back at Simplon! With Thys, Samurai Breaks, and Ivy Lab headlining, we’re once again putting together a line-up that’s nothing short of spectacular.
Thys (NL) and Samurai Breaks (UK) combine to create a clash of precision and raw energy. Futuristic sound design meets fast, erratic breaks. Thys’ layered, hyper-detailed approach forms a sharp contrast to the direct, explosive jungle influences of Samurai Breaks. Rumour has it that they recently spent a few hours together in the studio, and we’re likely to hear the results of that collaboration during the evening.
Ivy Lab (UK) stands for groundbreaking sound design and an uncompromising vision of bass music. Unfortunately, they have announced that they will be ending the project soon, so this is your last chance to see them in Groningen! The London duo moves effortlessly between drum & bass, halftime and experimental club sounds, with productions that excel in detail, deep textures and unexpected rhythms. Their sets don’t feel like a loose collection of music, but as one big, compelling whole.
Unlike Ivy Lab, this is the very, very, very first time Paige Julia (NZ) will be taking to the decks in the Netherlands. Specialising in dubstep, jungle, drum ‘n bass and everything in between, she ensures a seamless transition in vibe. With releases on labels such as 1985 Music, she has become a respected name within the underground scene.
Anyone who used to go to OOST (RIP) will remember him: Boeing 747 (050) is coming from Stad to kick off the evening with a set focused on breaks, bass and a building energy.
