Noisia is back. Exactly seven years after announcing their decision to call it quits, Nik Roos, Martijn van Sonderen, and Thijs de Vlieger are reuniting for the project. Naturally, a return to their home base of Groningen—and specifically Simplon—was inevitable.
Noisia was formed in Groningen around the turn of the millennium and built a body of work that has had a lasting influence on electronic music—particularly drum and bass—while simultaneously transcending the boundaries of any single genre. Their approach always prioritised the creative process just as much as the style itself. Over more than two decades of making music, Noisia established a reputation for an exceptionally detailed approach to production and sound design, navigating a landscape that spanned meticulously crafted club music, experimental electronica, hip-hop, composition, and audiovisual work.
Noisia and Simplon are inextricably linked. The group found its home base here and launched the club night 'Machtig'—which later evolved into VISION (also the name of their music label). Through VISION, Noisia Radio (later VISION Radio), and the 'Noisia Invites' events, the trio created platforms for new music and helped establish Groningen as a key hub on the international electronic music map. Now, Noisia returns to where it all began: Simplon.
This event is organised in celebration of our 50th anniversary in 2027.
