Hotel Lux
This year marks both a return and the beginning of a new chapter for Hotel Lux. Following their acclaimed debut album Hands Across The Creek, they are now releasing their second album, The Bitter Cup. After an extensive touring period, the band decided to take a step back following the departure of their original bassist and the addition of multi-instrumentalist Dillon Home. Now approaching their thirties, the new version of the group needed time to rediscover their collective musical identity. After attempting to write using the same methods that had produced their previous work, the band realized they needed to find new ways of working in order to continue making music together..
The early, raw pub rock sounds of Hotel Lux have now given way to something more nuanced, mature, and personal. From the vulnerable melancholy of the single Another One Gone from their first album to the sonic experiments of the stomping Costermonger, a newfound confidence and openness to ideas was reflected in their new, honest approach to songwriting and production.
The Bitter Cup will be released on October 31, after which the band will tour the United Kingdom and Europe with the album starting in November. And during that tour, a visit to Simplon is also on the agenda!
