De Nachtwacht is Jiri Taihuttu's new band project. Previously known for his work in hip hop, he has now consciously chosen a different form: a band in which ensemble playing, dynamics, and musicality take center stage. The music feels warm and layered, sung in Dutch, with a clear love for classic song structures and a contemporary approach. De Nachtwacht moves between pop, soft rock, funk, and anything that swings, without pinning itself down to one genre.
Live is the starting point. That became immediately clear with the debut show at Cinetol, which sold out within a minute. On stage, it's all about space, building tension, and detail. Jiri's guitar playing plays a central role in this: virtuoso where possible, subdued where necessary. The first singles were received with praise and announced by names such as Arjen Lubach, Hans Klok, Bente, Achmed Akkabi, and Maarten van Rossem.
On January 9, their debut album De Nachtwacht will be released on Noah’s Ark and on vinyl. That combination of musical conviction and live power did not go unnoticed. De Nachtwacht has now been confirmed for Noorderslag, Paaspop, Down The Rabbit Hole, and various other festivals and venues. With a rapidly growing reputation as a live act and a clear signature sound, De Nachtwacht is already considered one of the most promising new Dutch acts of 2026.
