Bassface
The dark months of the year are upon us, and the next Bassface fits right in! Flying in from England are drum & bass powerhouses Amoss and Arkaik, together with MiesFM and MERA from our own country, promise a musical program that is extremely promising.
Amoss is an artist who has influenced the sound you hear during the evenings since Bassface began. Dark, deep, and rolling collaborations with Groningen producer Fre4knc came to our city 10 years ago and resulted in tracks that we still love to hear at Simplon today. Amoss has not been idle since then and has developed into one of the leading acts in drum & bass. His releases on labels such as Flexout, Sofa Sound, Gemini Gemini, and V Recordings continue to find their way into our playlists, and it is high time we heard his music live.
Arkaik belongs to a select group of drum & bass artists who manage to innovate and surprise with every release, while maintaining their super minimal sound. Arkaik's music is a masterclass in minimalism, but still manages to get every dance floor moving. The list of labels and releases is impressive, including Critical Music, Dispatch Recordings, Flexout Audio, and Overview.
In case you don't know MiesFM yet, now is definitely the time to finally check out her music! MiesFM brings an incredibly cool, fresh take on the breakbeat, jungle, and liquid drum & bass that made the genre big in the 90s. Dreamy pads, funky basslines, and crispy breakbeats, her releases on Celsius Recordings, among others, are reminiscent of legends such as Marcus Intalex and LTJ Bukem in the best sense of the word. We are extremely excited to give MiesFM a spot at Bassface and to hear her sound on the big sound system!
MERA is a multi-genre DJ from Groningen who has rapidly made a name for herself in recent times. Several DJ sets at festivals, events, and radio shows have already enjoyed her skills, and now the time has come to add Bassface to that list!
