After leaving Simplon trembling during their past edition, VISION returns in June with a fresh line-up: The Upbeats, Posij, Fre4knc and Former.
As heavyweights in the scene, Groningen-based record label VISION is well known for both working with household bass names, while also giving a platform to starting talents, be it through their label, their radio show or their live events.
The Upbeats (NZ)
Hailing from Wellington, New Zealand, Jeremy Glenn and Dylan Jones are The Upbeats, one of the most legendary production/DJ teams to emerge from the fertile New Zealand drum and bass scene. Known for their eclectic tastes and energetic stage presence, The Upbeats deliver speaker-rattling sets to shake all manner of crowds, from festival glitterati at Pukkelpop, Shambhala and Glastonbury, to diehard bassheads at Outlook
With five studio albums under their belt, numerous awards and number 1 singles, they continue to push the envelope time and again.
One listen to Posij’s tracks will tell you that he is a producer that tends towards exploration, challenge and even obsession. Here you will find sounds that you’ve never heard before put together in ways you don’t expect. Retaining enough groove to console those of you who fear today’s epileptic generation, but adding just the right amount of chaos to inspire you to pay attention. With a track record to be proud of, including a song on the new Skrillex album, it is clear Posij knows the right formula.
Fre4knc comes back for more! A DJ, producer, sound designer, and self proclaimed dedicated perfectionist. Fre4knc’s frequencies are progressive in spirit, techy in nature and dark and dynamic in delivery. He took the stage across the world, from Fabric London to the Great Wall of China and is now back to his hometown Groningen upside down.
Jasper Scholma, aka Former, is a bass music producer, graphic designer and visual artist, who has mastered the arts of dark electronica and breaks. This creative centipede is known for exploring twisted vocals as well as deconstructing sounds of pop, beats, darkstep, techno and whatever, resulting in a trademark sound.
