badtime (The Hague, NL) was born in 2020 as a visual art collaboration between Kevin Schuit and Ioana Ciora. It quickly grew into a multi-disciplinary universe of its own. What can be seen as the soundtrack to their drawings is sinister and gloomy yet energetic and dancy, incorporating electronic drum beats, pulsating bass lines, hypnotic synths and driving punk guitars. badtime’s first EP, Badtime Vol. 1, can be found on Bandcamp and is described as ‘an infectious document of street art that exists in perfect tandem with its lo-fi punk edge, four tracks that cut tersely yet still offer a universe to get lost in.’ Now, badtime will play the soundtrack of their drawings at UP!
Santa Fé is back! The band from Groningen is the project of Ben Wennekers (Vox von Braun, Silver Ferns, Avery Plains). Santa Fé makes psychedelic stoner synthpop and their songs are usually cheerful and catchy: a perfect combination of dreamy and danceable. After four years of absence, Santa Fé comes to Simplon UP to play again! Santa Fé describes their music as ‘Psychedelic pop, where Bowie meets the Brian Jonestown massacre’ and ‘heroin pop without heroin’. Come to UP to dream away and dance to Santa Fé’s music!
The dj of the night is dj Qaluna. Qaluna mixes sets ranging from 80’s synthwave, electro, indie dance, (nu)-disco, (deep)house, tech house and techno. Anything to make the listeners dance but also leave them with a smile on their face!
