Project Umbra

They can hardly believe it, but Project Umbra is turning one year old! It’s been an incredible journey so far, with six events under their belt – and they’re proud to say that four of them were completely sold out. They couldn’t have made it this far without the help of so many amazing people and the fantastic support of their fellow ravers. From DJs, graphic designers, awareness team volunteers, and close friends, to the committed team members who have helped them every step of the way.

So let’s come together on April 22nd at Simplon to celebrate not just their one-year anniversary, but the incredible sense of community and support that Umbra has found in this city.

With a residents-only lineup, they’ll be serving up the same mix of groovy, rolling sounds, electrifying basslines, hypnotic techno, and even some trance to keep the energy high from beginning to end.

Leote: Hailing from Lisbon and now based in Groningen for his studies, Leote first started playing house music before discovering a love for techno. Since then, he’s been experimenting with a range of genres, from trance to hard techno, and fast-paced melodies. What began as a lockdown hobby has now become a passion that has evolved alongside Project Umbra. This time, Leote is teaming up with Ryuk for a special b2b set that’s sure to get your heart racing and your feet moving.

Ryuk: Coming from Luxembourg and currently based in Groningen, Ryuk got into DJing during the pandemic side by side with Leote at their place. Starting with minimal but now playing faster tempos, Ryuk prides himself in not sticking with only one genre and experimenting with a bit of everything. Teaming up one more time with Umbra OG Dj Leote, you can expect some Fast beat melodies to keep your hearts racing and your feet moving all night long

Jansen: Now based in Berlin, Jansen enjoys spinning tunes for fun, mixing House, Disco, and melodic grooves to create an immersive experience. True to Project Umbra’s mission of inclusivity and connection, he often dances among the crowd, sharing his love for music while bringing people together.

Jansen’s passion for music and his genuine enjoyment in uniting communities continue to inspire audiences, showcasing the power of music to create meaningful connections across borders.

Noia: also known as Noa, is the second on the line-up. She usually brings the hardgroove to Umbra parties, but has broadened her perspective to more rolling and hypnotic sounds.

For this event she will combine hardgroove with more rolling hypnotic sounds with lots of percussions that will keep you bouncing.

Frank: Raised in Berlin and Dresden, Germany, Frank started his love affair with music from the young age of 9yo with piano and singing, He has been djing since the start of his studies in Groningen in 2020, and now in his 20’s he has found a new form of musical expression.

Frank’s DJ journey began with classic House music, quickly shifting to progressive House, breakbeat, and gritty vocals along with fast-paced mixing as he gained experience. His output is continuously developing as he adds new textures and layers to his signature, pushing his own creative boundaries.
