Sultan + Shoom

Pre-apocalyptic post-genre punk rock: exotic riffs, strange bass sounds, hyperactive drums. Scream that you’re done with your phone and dance with moves you didn’t know you had. Throw Queens of The Stone Age, The Prodigy and Rage Against the Machine together and there you have the band Sultan. Live you will be taken on a hyperactive trip that was already seen in the Milky Way, Paradiso, Patronat, Ekko and Q Factory. Genres clash shamelessly, but a distinctive character is retained.

The five-piece formation shoom rose in early 2022 and debuted in the Groningen scene with an intimate living room concert. The tire is now hard on the road. After being on ESNS Grunnsonic and playing the Vera- basement bar flat in a sold-out EP release show, shoom achieves the top 10 of ‘Het Beste Van Groningse Bodem’ 2023 with their single Birds. With their loud swinging guitars, poignant sax-solos and subtle rhythms, shoom shows influences from all angles of the music: from black midi to John Coltrane and from MF DOOM to British neo-jazz.
