ISHA & Close Counters

ISHA is a 23-year-old producer, artist and multi-instrumentalist splitting her time between the vibrant cities of Amsterdam and London. Her fresh funk beats with a rare-groove appeal characterised by strong bass lines see influences from the 70’s and 80’s funk, hip-hop, and jazz scene, but also modern-day acts like SG Lewis, Jungle and FKJ.

Taking her unique sound to the stage, ISHA embarked on a solo live-settour across the Netherlands and the UK, she played stages like Paradiso, ADE and Mysteryland. Beyond her musical talent, ISHA is on a mission to challenge stereotypes. Refusing to conform to the expectations often placed on female artists, she pushes against the assumption that a woman on stage is merely a singer-songwriter. Naarm/Melbourne-based Close Counters’ diverse soundscape sits at the crossroads of house, neo-soul, broken beat and disco. Their 2023 Music Victoria Award-winning and Australian Music Prize-nominated album, ‘SOULACOASTA II’, is a sample-infused expedition that further secured their spot as one of the top talents in their class, with the duo tirelessly sourcing niche samples from films and records on trips across the globe.

The LP was touted by tastemakers Gilles Peterson, Folamour, Jamz Supernova, Jyoty Singh, Jaguar, Tarsza, DJ Mag and Bandcamp. Their collab ‘Rollout’ with Young Franco featuring UK rappers Scrufizzer and Jay Prince, won over new fans across the globe and was added to the Official Soundtrack for acclaimed video game FIFA 23.
