Bassface

Bassface returns to Simplon and brings a heavy-weight line-up once again. Legendary Bristol flavours, two of the hottest up-and-coming artists and a selection of your favorite locals, a true Bassface-style combination of artists if we’ve ever seen one. We’re proud to present to you DLR, Azotix, Spektiv, Yannons and Zuverah! 

Second place to our lovely Groningen, Bristol is probably our favorite drum&bass city in the world. To many, it is the drum&bass capital of the world. Our headliner for this edition sits comfortably on the Bristolian drum&bass throne, it’s the raw, funky dnb master himself: DLR! When we first got to know DLR, he was already one of the core artists of one of our favorite labels in Dispatch Recordings. Releasing two iconic albums on Dispatch with ‘Seeing Sounds’ and ‘Dreamland’. Since then starting his own label, Sofa Sound, things have only gotten better. Their sound building on the characteristic DLR funk breaks, distorted basslines and top-tier MC collaborations, we’re happy to claim it’s one of our scene’s hottest labels at the moment! Fresh off of the release of his new album ‘Money Till I Got None’, DLR joins us at Bassface and we couldn’t be more excited!

Next to DLR, we’ve got two of the biggest talents in the Overview Music catalog: Azotix & Spektiv. Azotix crashed onto the drum&bass scene with the speed of light, releasing his ‘Tusk’ and ‘Glares’ EP on Overview, presenting his very unique personal style of drum&bass in combination with huge collabs with Klinical, Waeys and VISLA. Next to Azotix, we couldn’t help ourselves to bring Spektiv back to Groningen. His performance during last year’s Transparent Audio showcase at Bassface still holds a special place in our Bassface-hearts and he just keeps on producing our favorite new tracks. His drum&bass banger ‘Don’t You Know’ already had a top spot in our favorites list, only for Spektiv to release ‘Tokyo’ with Klinical. Everything this guy touches, turns to gold!

To find talented artists, you don’t always have to go across the canal into the U.K…. You can just have a look around Groningen and find Yannons & Zuverah! If you’ve attended any drum&bass events in the past years, you must know these guys by now. Both recently released a track on the new SubCulture V.A. album and have got a bunch more music coming, so get ready for these two local legends!
