Tays + Nomi $hanya

Nomi $hanya is a producer, singer-songwriter and mix- & mastering engineer. As a child, Nomi listened to India, Arie, Musiq Soulchild, Brandy, D’Angelo, Erykah Badu and SWV and these are still her favorite artists. She is inspired by the late 90’s and early 00’s R&B, like Destiny’s Child, Lucy Pearl, Joe & Mya. She started performing for small and big audiences at a young age in Amsterdam and at the age of 16 she studied Sounddesign in Leeuwarden to be an independent artist and to have freedom in creating her own vision. Nomi $hanya released multiple singles on Spotify, such as ‘Next Step’. Now, it is her ‘next step’ to play at Simplon UP!

Tays makes Dutch hip-hop/trap and is described by Noordstaat as an emerging musical talent from the north of the Netherlands. He not only produces his own beats, but also provides the vocals himself, varying between a distinctive, mellow sound and raw, old school rap. During his life, tays has lived in different places in the Netherlands, which has given him many different sources of inspiration. His creative expression is therefore not tied to one specific genre, which can be heard particularly well on his debut album ‘kwestie van tays’ (2022). To optimize his musical performance, tays has followed a talent development program at Noordstaat. Subsequently, he has taken the stage several times, such as last summer at the Keiweek and Noorderzon in Groningen. Now it’s time for Simplon UP! – Leanne
