Oshunmare + Basseculade

In Yoruba Mythology, Oshunmare is responsible for the creation of the rainbow. Besides that, she produces a variety of electronic music from hometown Arnhem that is self-titled “mel(anchol)ectronic trip ’n bass’’. Browsing her Soundcloudpage reveals that she is influenced by much more music than just triphop or bass. Elements of breaks, jungle, garage, electrohouse and indietronica are very present. Ten years ago, she managed to get a release on compilation albums of N.E.W. (Nieuwe Elektronische Waar) with songs like ‘’Mind the gap and ‘’Yogmage’’. Aside from her musical talent, Oshunmare writes poems attributed to her own name ‘k.a.t.e.’ You may expect her to pick up the mic during this show which is promising.

The basseculade project finds its roots in boredom, lonerism and a lot of night time drinking where creativity escaped a small student room. The Italian born duo from Turin first started their sound discovery as a way to escape the awful dutch weather which confined them to dry spaces. Their sounds come from analog synthesizers and drum machines, something they consider a pure and direct approach to music-making. Love for sound is the key thing meaning they don’t shy away from different genres and dive into whatever they feel is appropriate in the moment. They first got introduced to the Groningen scene by Flame Events and house parties both as DJs and live act.  We are surely expecting a unique performance from these pals.
