Havoc of Mobb Deep

Havoc is known as one half of the iconic New York hip hop group Mobb Deep. The rapper is known for his hard, sharp lyrics and consistent flow, with which he represents life in New York. Havoc earned his stripes as a rapper and producer of hits like “Shook Ones Pt. 2′ and ‘Survival of the fittest’. Homebase welcomes this downright legend together with Big Noyd and DJ L.E.S. to celebrate the legacy of Mobb Deep in Groningen.

Havoc grew up in Queens, and met Prodigy at school in Manhattan, with whom he formed Mobb Deep. A year after the debut album by Nas, who grew up in the same neighbourhood, the duo’s debut album, The Infamous, was released in 1995. It became an absolute hip hop classic that set the tone for future generations of East Coast hardcore rappers. Havoc has also made a name for himself solo, including as a producer for MCs such as The Notorious B.I.G., Eminem, Nas, 50 Cent and many others.

Even after Prodigy’s death, Havoc remains a standard bearer for hardcore hip-hop and Mobb Deep. In the year of hip-hop’s fiftieth anniversary, there is no better time to bring this hip hop hero to Groningen.
