The self proclaimed Creole Afro-Futurists four-piece known as Dowdelin spread the love with their addictive electro soul and creole jazz combined with biguine, quadrille and more. Dowdelin take the allure of contemporary R&B and ground it firmly in Afro- Caribbean rhythmic foundations. There is more infectious bounce to this band than a trampoline set up on top of a bouncy castle.
Based in Lyon with roots in Guadeloupe, Martinique and Armenia, the group was formed by producer David Kiledjian and singer Olivya. Dowdelin (a play on a Creole word meaning slow and idle) quickly hit their stride mixing Afro-Caribbean stylings, Creole-language vocals and more European electronic sounds. For Olivya, who is from La Martinique but grew up in France, the unifying of these styles immediately felt natural.
With their latest album Lanmou Lanmou being released little over a year ago (and on which it collaborated with Vaudou Game, among others), Dowdelin is ready to embark on another journey with their Creole Afro-Futurism. And Simplon is right on the path of that journey. Time to bring rays of sunshine to our Great Hall! Dowdelin are set to take their Creole Afro-Futurism to the world once more. And Simplon is right on the path of that journey. Time to bring rays of sunshine to our Main Hall!
