It has been over two years since the last Homebase before the pandemic. In the meantime, several Homebase shows have been cancelled or rescheduled due to the effects of corona. In this short season Homebase has been able to do another show besides Slum Village with Open Mike Eagle and Video Dave, another show by Fresku is coming up, they’re presenting De La Soul in De Oosterpoort and that’s about it… or is it? To let you start the summer with an old-fashioned Homebase night, on June 23 they bring no less than six acts to Simplon for a night full of New York hip hop!

Masta Ace & Marco Polo
In 2016 Masta Ace brought an impressive show to Homebase and now he’s coming back! Masta Ace is known as one of the very best lyricists and performers in the rap scene. For three decades he has been running in the hip hop industry. He has been through every high and low, and is still honing his impressive style. For fifteen years he has collaborated with beatmaker Marco Polo and in 2018 the two released the album ‘A Breukelen Story’. Currently, the duo is working hard on a follow-up.

Raw Wattage & Large Professor
Since 2016, Raw Wattage has been bringing a refreshing boom bap sound that is not only nostalgic but also eccentric. This night Raw Wattage will be on stage together with Large Professor. True fans will know him, but many won’t either. Still, you shouldn’t underestimate his influence in the hip-hop world. Large Professor is part of Main Source (also previously featured at Homebase!) and served as a mentor to Nas, among others.

Edo. G & Fokis
American rapper Edo. G (also written as Ed O.G.) from Boston is best known as frontman of hip-hop group Ed O.G & Da Bulldogs. With this group he released two albums in the early 90’s. Together with Masta Ace, he released the album ‘ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT’ in 2009 and also worked with Pete Rock and Insight Innovates, among others. Fokis was supporting Das EFX at Homebase in 2020 and has collaborated with Madlib’s brother Oh No. Fokis and Edo G. will soon release an EP together featuring only producers from Europe.

This night our own Deejay Irie will be spinning the night until the room and tap are empty.
