Many club and festival -goers have been dreaming of the cinematic and energetic music of BRUUT! for a decade now! The Amsterdam foursome know how put on a memorable show everywhere they go. Their genre-transcending music took them to countries such as Japan, Turkey, Suriname, Burkina Faso, Russia and Spain, and earned them a large following in the Netherlands. It’s time to bring back the party to Groningen!
On their new album ‘Zest’ takes the listener to a world where strobes and Spaghetti Westerns meet. As if Keith Flint walked onto the film set of A Fistful of Dollars. The band ‘wrapped’ in black and white, pours over every genre in the pop encyclopedia with the sound of cheap East German organs, fat synth basses and a toy synthesizer. A new label – Excelsior Recordings – and a new sound: in ‘Zest’ you can hear how expressive instrumental music can be, it should be noted that sitting still is impossible due to the meditative grooves that leave you wanting more. How does all that sound? Putting this band in a box is almost impossible; BRUUT! is its own genre. |
